John Baldessari was born in 1931 and currently lives in Santa Monica and works in Venice, CA. He attended San Diego State University and completed post-graduate work at Otis Art Institute, Chouinard Art Institute and the University of California, Berkeley.
Baldessari’s art has been featured in more than 200 solo and 750 group exhibitions in the United States and Europe. His numerous honors include the Americans for the Arts lifetime achievement award and the Governor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Visual Arts in California. He was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters this spring. Upcoming projects and exhibitions include Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht; Marian Goodman Gallery, New York; Fondazione Prada, Milan; and a traveling retrospective beginning at the Tate Modern in London in 2009.
