Adam Putnam was born in 1973 and currently lives and works in Queens, NY. He received a BFA from Parsons School of Design and MFA from Yale University School of Art. He has had recent solo exhibitions at PS1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City and Taxter & Spengemann, New York, among others. His work was recently included in the Whitney Biennial 2008.
Taking inspiration from Yves Klein’s infamous Le Vide, 1958, Putnam’s photograph Untitled, 2007 was part of a series that hovered around vacant spaces in his studio that were shot rapidly over several weeks. Putnam’s intention was to make viewing the work not only visual, but explicitly erotic and carnal.
