Pablo Helguera was born in Mexico City in 1971 and currently lives and works in New York. His work is often performance-based – he has performed at the Museum of Modern Art, New York and has exhibited or performed in the Havana Biennial, Performa 2005, and the Museum of Contemporary Art amongst others.
Helguera received a Creative Capital Grant for “The School of Panamerican Unrest,” a nomadic think-tank that traveled by car from Anchorage to Tierra del Fuego, becoming the most physically extensive public art project on record. This project will be showcased in a traveling exhibition organized by El Museo del Barrio in New York and will travel to London and Mexico City.
