Ellen Harvey, Nice Brooch stolen from Giorgione's Judith for the Whitney

Ellen Harvey was born in Farnborough, Kent and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from the Whitney Independent Study Program in 1999. Harvey’s work often examines the theoretical and social implications of art as signifier for not only its own (often purposeful) inadequacies, but also those of a larger society. Recent solo exhibitions include The Museum of Failure at Luxe Gallery, New York; Beautiful /Ugly at Magnus Müller, Berlin; Bad Mirror at Galerie Gebruder Lehmann, Dresden; Mirror at the Pennsylvania Academy, Philadelphia; and A Whitney for the Whitney at Altria at the former Whitney branch at Altria. Harvey was recently included in the Whitney Biennial 2008.
