Over the past 14 years Spencer Tunick has used naked bodies of volunteers as raw material to intervene in chosen sites. This homogenized mass nudity transforms and revitalizes already striking buildings, urban environments and natural landscapes. Tunick was born in Middletown, New York in 1967. His installations have taken place all over Europe, North and South America and Australia. Tunick’s recent installations and exhibitions include the Saatchi Gallery, London; Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo; the Lyon Biennial and the Havana Biennale. Tunick’s work has been featured in numerous solo shows including Akureyri Art Museum, Akureyri, Iceland; BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, England; and Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland. Tunick lives and works in New York.
