Annie Morris’ peg pieces examine notions of feminine identity using the humble clothes peg as her primary tool. Inscribed with thousands of female nudes and swathed in watercolor, Morris’ shimmering surfaces hover between abstraction and figuration. Morris was born in 1978 and graduated from the Ecole Nationale de Beaux Arts, Paris in 2002 before completing an MA at the Slade School of Fine Art, London in 2003. Recent solo shows include When A Happy Thing Falls (Allsopp Contemporary, London) and A Happy Thing Falls (Jeannie Freilich Contemporary, New York). Further solo exhibitions were shown in 2006 at Kim Light Gallery/LightBox, Los Angeles and in 2005 at Laura Bartlett Gallery, London. Morris lives and works in London.
