Mary Heilmann, Graffiti

Mary Heilmann, born in San Francisco in 1940, received a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1962 and an MA from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1967. Heilmann lives and works in New York. Her first major museum retrospective, To Be Someone, organized by the Orange County Museum of Art, is currently traveling in the U.S. Her work was included in the 2008 Whitney Biennial and can be found in the permanent collections of many museums worldwide.
