Born in New York, Liz Laser is currently pursuing her MFA at Columbia University. She received her BFA in 2003 with high honors from Wesleyan University where she received the Elizabeth Verveer Tishler Prize for an outstanding senior thesis exhibition. Her photographs and videos imagine a nonverbal space in which unfamiliar interactions between people and things are evolving. Laser’s work has been shown in a number of recent exhibitions at galleries in New York such as Smack Mellon, 33 Bond, and Jack the Pelican Presents, and this year she has a solo show at NT Art Gallery in Bologna, Italy. She will begin the Whitney Independent Study Program this fall.
