Born in 1951, Hunt Slonem lives and works in New York City with 70 pet birds – his models. He studied painting at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and received a BA from Tulane University. Slonem has had more than 250 gallery shows and over 30 museum exhibitions globally. His work resides in numerous museums including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 1991, he won a National Endownment for the Arts grant in painting and MacDowell Fellowships in 1983, 1984 and 1986.
